Man, last time I had an overheat problem on my boat it turned out to be the thermostat. Got that replaced and then got one of those bad things comes in threes days. Had to replace the impeller plates and heat xchanger had to be cleaned out. Check n see.

Heat exchangers will get pieces of impeller stuck in it when the impeller goes back. It is recommended to check to see if risers are full of rust also.  add a comment

Without having specifics like the engine type and size it is impossible to give you a quick boat repair fix. One thing you should definitely check on is the manifold. If the outflow of cooling water is impeded your motor will get hot at the higher speeds and eventually overheat.

Several things can cause a boat to overheat and need repair: impeller going bad or was installed incorrectly, hoses installed backwards (a common occurrence) which can cause water to be pushed rather than sucked in, water transfer hose from the drive to the transom plate (check for kinks in hose).
