Offer the baby a bottle or cup instead of the breast for one feeding. Begin with the lunch feeding when the baby will get full from food. It is easier if someone else can give the baby a bottle or cup, cuddling and holding, so the baby doesn't expect the breast. Eliminate one feeding at a time.

You need to keep cutting out the breastfeeding sessions and give your child a bottle in it's place. You keep doing this until all of the breastfeeding times are gone. Your child will get used to this because babies will actually try to wean themselves off the breast in most cases.

The key is to wean gradually. Choose a feeding to stop, say at lunchtime, be sure to substitute it with a bottle of infant formula. After several days or a week, try dropping another feeding. Try substituting a fun activity during the time you would normally nurse, such as story time, especially if your baby is reluctant to wean.

The best way to wean is to drop one feeding per week and supplement that with formula. For example, week 1, supplement 1 feeding; week 2 supplement 2 feedings, etc.

the best way to stop breastfeeding your 9 month old is to breast feed them the baby less times a day then gradually stop. You then should go to the store and get cabbage leaves and put the on your breasts that will help your milk dry up, you could also go to the doctor& get pills.
