What is the best way to get ink out of a couch cushion?

I had a pen in my back pocket and when I sat down it broke, resulting in ink getting all over my new couch.

Most of the time the ink in pens are alcohol based, so using rubbing alcohol could get it out. Dampen a cloth with the rubbing alcohol and scrub.

have you tried hairspray? it's odd sounding advise, but it works! In my experience, aeresol cans, as well as non-aeresol, pump type sprayers either one work. saturate the stained area with hairspray, then daub stain. ink begins lifting on contact, and with hairspray re-applied as needed, you can remove entire stain with patience.

To easily lift ink from your couch is to use hairspray and then slowly dab it with a paper towel until the ink and hairspray absorb into the paper towel.

Crazy as this may sound non-aerosol Hairspray should remove the stain. Spray some on the ink, then use an old tooth brush to scrub the stain out. The fabric should be good as new.
