What is the best way to clean leather shoes?

I had to walk through some serious mud, and I don't want to use water to clean my shoes.

Knock off extra dried mud and then use a cloth dabbed in petroleum jelly. This will clean your shoes as well as give them a shine. If that is not your idea of fun, then get Goop waterless hand cleaner. It will take stains off your shoes, also.

To get mud off leather shoes, you must proceed with caution. First, take a damp cloth, (not paper towel) and rub off all the excess mud. After that make sure the shoes are dry and apply a light coat of shoe polish; buff with dry cloth until the shoes shine.

You should clean them with a banana peel. Rub the inside of the peel on them and then clean the remainings with a dry piece of cloth. Or, if you want something you can buy, there are leather cleaning products in stores, and you can buy one, but it will just be more expensive.

Brush off as much mud as possible. Use saddle soap and a clean, damp cloth. Rub the soap into a lather and onto the shoe; wipe away and air dry.
