A good hydrocortisone cream would work for the itch the comes with bug bites, including mites. Make sure the child isn't scratching them and causing an infection in the infected area.

In case of mite bite, wash the area with soap and water. Apply ice cubes or ice water to reduce itching and skin rash. Apply antiseptic cream or sulphur based cream in the affected area. In case of severe allergy, doctor should be consulted. Regular cleaning of bed sheets, towels, clothing, floor, carpets, furniture, shower, bathtub etc is necessary.

Wash the infected area with soap and cold water. Cold compresses and elevation will ease the swelling; calamine lotion or an anesthetic ointment will relieve the itching. Scratching an itchy bite can lead to infection. If you have a number of bites and feel general discomfort, contact a physician immediately.

One treatment you can try is a topical cream such as a corticosteroid that you can buy at most any pharmacy. You need to follow the instructions on the cream, but several applications a day may be necessary. Also an over the counter antihistamine might relieve itching and it may be helpful to take it at night when mites are most prevalent.

You should spread some anti-itch cream on the bites. If they do not clear in a week or seem to get worse, then I would take take your child to the doctor right away.
