Immediatley after the injury you should add oce to reduce inflamation until the pain goes away then you can begin some simple range of motions and gradually begin using the joint. If pain persists or worsens or does not get any better over time a physicial may be needed.

Any torn ligament, you should really ice it and keep it at rest for few weeks. A knee brace would best serve you as well to further avoid injury to it.

If it truly is a torn ligament, your only option is surgery. The two torn ends of the ligament won't reattach on their own.
