Several home remedies: 1) Cover burn with a cloth soaked in vinegar. Vinegar is soothing and painkilling. 2) Put lavender essential oil onto burned skin area. It has antiseptic properties, painkilling and promotes rapid healing. 3) Put a used tea bag on burn, tannic acid in tea is soothing.

A minor thermal burn or chemical burn can be treated at home. Otherwise, you need to see a provider or go to an ER. Do not rupture blisters. Cleanse the area gently with antibacterial soap and water daily. If you have a ruptured burn, apply an antibiotic ointment and cover with a bandaid. Use pain mediction, ibuprofen or Tylenol.

Cool cloths are comforting. The pharmacist may make some lidocaine cream for you. Try some cortisone cream. Flamazine for a few days is very comforting. Use ibuprofen, Tylenol and if it's bad enough, some morphine.

If the burn is first degree, just apply cold water and wrap with gauze and keep it dry. Second or third degree burns need a doctor's care. It's pretty much the same treatment but he can make sure there's no infection.
