What is the amperage in a 9-volt battery?

I assume it's the same for all of them.

It isn't the same for all of them. It actually varies widely depending on type; Ni-Cd rechargeables produce 120 milliamp-hours, while lithium batteries can produce up to 1200mAh. Remember, that's how many milliamps it can produce in an hour. Draw half of that, and the battery will last two hours.

So if you have a device that uses a 9 volt battery and want to put a 9 volte adapter to replace the battery, what is the max amps you could use without frying the device?  add a comment

Batteries do not have amperage, or current. Current is what is being drawn from it by a circuit. They do have Capacity, which is the number of amps per hour. The typical alkaline capacity is 565 mAh, which means you can draw 565 mA for one hour before it depletes.
