What is "statuatory" sick pay?

Its paid by employers to their employees that are out sick for a period that is longer than four consecutive days, but less than 28 weeks. This is done in the United Kingdom and is not paid out to a number of categories such as employees on strike, prisoners, pregnant employees in receipt of maternity pay.

A statuatory sick pay is a payment that an employee recieves , even though he/she is not attending the office because of sickness. This is made cumpolsory by law , that is why the word statuatory is added to it.
