It is a disease that affects people sensitive to the sun. When the sun does not shine, a person with this will be depressed. They need sunshine to feel good.

Seasonal affective disorder is a form of depression. People who suffer from this disease develop clinic depression during certain times of the year--usually winter--but do not suffer from them at any other time. These symptoms usually arise during the winter months. It is believed that lack of sunlight, due to bad weather and shorter winter days, is a factor.

Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD is a mood disorder in which people with otherwise good mental health will feel depressed during the winter (or possible one of the other seasons) years after year.

Season Affective Disorder (SADS) refers to a mood disorder suffered by some people during the winter season when sunlight is less available. Because there seems to be a relationship between light exposure and mood for some people, a treatment for SADS can be light box therapy in which someone sits before a reflective light box for a certain period.
