Nursing home insurance is a policy that collects monthly premiums for coverage of the expense of long-term care in a nursing facility or assisted living facility in the future. The policies are known to be complex and tricky, and require proper timing.

Nursing home insurance, or long term care insurance, is designed to cover a stay in a nursing home or rehabilitation facility. It can cover some or all of the daily costs associated with care, which can be very expensive. Review the policy carefully as it will spell out exactly what is covered. Do not assume that everything will be covered.

Nursing home insurance provides coverage for nursing home care. Most health insurance plans, including medicare, sharply limit the amount and duration of coverage for nursing home care. Nursing home insurance covers this gap.

You are more than likely referring to Long Term Care Insurance, which is not exclusive to nursing home care. Long Term Care (LTC) offers a set amount of benefits for daily care in nursing facilities, hospitals, or even hospice care in some instances.
