Sanitation comes first, as this plant is poisonous! Air layering is the recommended way to propagate. With clean knife, make a cut below a stem ring. Dust area with a rooting hormone and place plastic around cut area. Fill with sphagnum moss and keep closed. Plant after roots appear.

When spring comes, you have to divide offshoots from the main plant. Make sure they have roots. Plant those offshoots in a pot with fresh potting soil. Very important is adequate nutrition for the plant. Other methods are to cut off tall plants and place it in fresh potting soil with hormone on base or placing it on damp soil.

In spring, divide offshoots from the main plant, with some roots attached, and put in another pot. Or cut off top of tall plants, use root hormone on base and put into pot with fresh potting soil. Also, if you lay pieces of plant down on damp potting soil, they will sprout.

Dumb cane propagation can occur rapidly if you actually plant it right. You must cultivate the soil and use fertilizer every now and then to make sure your soil is enriched. Then you should also place some citrus peelings into the soil. Water daily and expose to high sunlight area.
