It's incorrect to say mp4 film. Mp4 is the 4th generation of the MPEG file format. It is most commonly used by Apple for the videos in their iTunes store. You can put a film, or movie, into the mp4 format, but you would never say you have an mp4 film.

MPEG-4 is one of the latest steps in downloadable technology. It is a multimedia container format used to store digital video and audio streams. It is a step up from Mp3 format. Be aware, not all older players accept Mp4. If you mean actual camera type film, there is no such thing, Mp4 is a means of processing digital streams.

That is just another video format based off the MPEG format. The original version of this format was released back in 2001 but it is becoming popular now.
