Check with Maine Small Business Development Center (SBDC) & state goverment. They can direct you to laws & guidelines. Also, your county or city may require a license or approval of your business name. Check at the library for copies of business plans before you go out and buy any materials.

The person would have to file an application for a license in the town the person lives in and submit an application fee of $100. In order to qualify, the person must not have been convicted of a crime involving selling items or violated any of the pawnbroker state laws.
