It is pressed into a lower control arm. Remove the lower control arm assembly, take it to a machine shop and have them press it in and out. Then reassemble.

This depends on the make of the car. The car must be jacked up and the lower control arm supported. The cotter pin and nut must be removed. Some ball joints have to be pressed out with a tool. On some older cars the ball joint can be forced out with a tool(fork).

The lower ball joint needs to be either pressed or unbolted from the lower control arm depending on the style. Then it needs to be removed from the steering knuckle.
