You will need to shut the water at the main valve. Cut in a tee fitting at the hot water output of the water tank and screw in the new expansion tank.

Instruction should have been included when you purchased your tank. If there were not contact the manufacture. You should be ale to obtain step by step instructions for your job. You need to make sure that your tanks pressure is the same as inlet water pressure. The tank will be installed on the cold water line.
