Thoughtful and polite. Ask your beloved what would be a good gift for the MIL, such as flowers or candy. Call her Mrs. whatever until you are invited to use a first name and check with your beloved about the correct last name to use.

When meeting you mother in law it's important to make a good impression. It's advisable to dress neatly, watch your language, be kind and be humble. Keep these things in mind but you should also be yourself. Above all, let your love for your spouse show.

Be polite. Bring a gift. Don't make any sexual comments about their child. Start out acting the way you would when meeting one of your mother's friends for the first time -- friendly but respectful. Take your lead from her; if she jokes around, you can too. If she's more formal, you do the same.

Familiarity breeds contempt. Always address her as Mrs. ……… until you are invited to call her by her by her first name

If she's more serious, be a bit more quiet, but still polite. If she's easygoing or average, just be yourself.
