It can be very helpful to talk to someone about a deep loss and it can help clear your thoughts. It ultimately allows your focus to come back.

In my experience, even basic counseling is immensely helpful in dealing with everyday stress when one has difficulty coping by themselves. Bereavement would be an especially difficult thing to cope with, so I would imagine bereavement counseling would be very helpful.

It is like any sort of counseling, except the focus is one helping you deal with the feelings you are dealing with after the death of a loved one. It can be helpful for you in dealing with the grief, sadness, and even anger you might be feeling. It will only be helpful if you are open to it.

Bereavement counseling helps a person accept the loss of loved one, assuaging feelings of guilt, fear, and depression. While not necessary in all cases, it can be important for many.
