INS death sponsor is a family member or friend that may speak on the behalf of the death of a spouse or loved one. This law is 107-150. However, this law does not apply in the cases were a spouse was the petitioning relative.

INS stood for Immigration and Naturalization Service, but it's now changed its name to Immigration and Customs Enforcement--ICE. "Death sponsor": substitute sponsor who takes over after death of the original.
