FPO stands for Fleet Post Office, which helps define which branch of the military (navy/marine corps) the mail is going to. Unlike APO which stands for Army Post Office. Usually this is combined with AP or AA to further define which section of the world the mail is going to, AP meaning Armed Forces Pacific, AA meaning Americas.
