ANA stands for anti-nuclear antibody. This is an antibody that attacks one's own organs. It can be detected in the blood. If you test positive for it, it means you may have an autoimmune disease in which your body is attacked by itself. Examples of diseases with a positive ANA include Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

ANA is antinuclear antibody that is principally done if one suspects Lupus (Systemic Lupus erythematosus). But this can also be positive in people who are normal as well. So you will need other symptoms to decide whether you have this disease or not.

ANA screening is a test to help determine if someone has an autoimmune disease. This test is given to individuals that show symptoms of Lupus or other autoimmune disorders. If a positive result occurs, it may suggest an autoimmune disorder present in your body and specific tests must be performed to further determine diagnosis.

The antinuclear antibody screen is used to detect rheumatic or other related diseases by testing a person's blood. A positive result means that the said individual has lupus.
