There is a range that might be given with the high end being 500mg a day usually given in two or three doses. This would only be for extreme cases.

I HIGHLY recommend you follow your pediatrician's directions, but my 3 year old currently taking Amoxicillin takes ONE and ONE HALF teaspoonsful twice a day for 7 days.

The dosage for medication for a three year old is going to depend on his or her weight and not the age. With children this age it is important that you focus on weight to avoid overdosing the child.

The proper method is to determine by weight not by age. Generally 400mg in a dose and dose twice a day.
