Mechanical engineers work in many settings including manufacturing, building and construction, and design. Their work is active problem solving - definitely using math, but a variety of other skills too.
Basically it depends on what type of company your working on but you are using math every day along with other problem solving skills. They create cad programs to help them solve problems.
Engineers are almost programers. They don't do calcs all day because they create excell or mathcad programs to do the repetive calcs for them. Hint: read up on BIM.
