There is no 100% safe chat room. There is no way to ensure that the people in the chat room are under 18 and even if there were, there is no way to ensure that cyber bullying won't take place. Instead, teach your son safety procedures and keep the computer in a public area in your house.

Honestly, any chat room can be deemed 'unsafe'. Just because it is labeled a chat room for teens does not mean that other groups of people with bad intentions do not have readily available access to the chat room as well. The best thing to do is monitor exactly what room he enters and what is being said.

There are many chat rooms on the internet that are restricted by age limits and only allow teenagers inside. I would try using one of these for your son; you can find them on AOL chat services.
