It was a Monkey Doll with a cute hair cutt. It was created in Japan in 1974. I happen to know about this topic since I used to have a crew cutt and my friends called me Monchichi. It was also a cartoon on Saturday mornings. The cartoon did not last but the dolls are still around.

The monchichi's are dolls from the Hana Barbara cartoon from the 1980's. They are monkey like creatures with children's faces. They are usually covered in brown fuzzy fur with plastic faces and hands. They come in several different styles ranging from male and female to adults and baby monchichi's. They are still available at select stores like Target.
