The key to functioning bowels is fiber. Avoid bananas, apple sauce, rice and toast (these stop diarrhea), and eat small portions of high-fiber foods.

Prunes and prune juice are great home remedies for constipation. Prune juice is more concentrated and takes less time to consume than the fruit itself. Most people prefer to drink the juice. Prunes carry high volumes of fiber and are also very healthy for the body. Be prepared to stay in one place for a while after ingesting!

Foods that are high in fiber work well to treat constipation. Eat plenty of prunes and dates and be sure to drink a lot of water.

The home remedy for constipation is not fast, but it is simple and natural. You will need to eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fiber. Be sure to keep well hydrated, and avoid caffeine and carbonated drinks. Also avoid refined foods, including foods containing white flour.

Take 2 tablespoons of raw vinegar in 8ozs. of water three times a day. I would regularly have a bowel movement once per week. When I came across this mixture and began using it for myself, I started having bowel movements once per day.

Try adding a lot of fiber and bran to your diet. Bran muffins, green vegetables, and milk of magnesia are all great options. Be sure to eat proteins.

Increase your fluid intake and exercise. Drinking plum and/or prune juice has been shown to increase bowel motility, and eating prunes is often very effective and works overnight.
