There are of course many options, but you might consider planting low, green shrubs a little apart. Or, you can plant some flowering bushes accented by small, colorful flowers. And if you want something really simple, you can plant spider plants that will grow wide and green but need little attention.

You can choose good shrubs, such as privet, which make a good natural fencing, or get creative with something like roses that require more of your care and ingenuity.

I would plant some decorated shrubs and perennial flowers in from of the shrubs. Small lilac bushes, Burning bush look good until the fall.

Flowers are a great way to bring out the landscaping around your fence. Because planting flowers will make it difficult to weed eat around your fence make sure to kill off the weeds before you plant. Use a weed and grass killer around your fence and plant when the grass/weeds have died.

Depending on the type of fence, a nice bed of mulch will help keep weeds down, add some flowers if the type of fence permits it. If it is a solid fence, make sure to waterproof first before piling mulch or dirt against it.

I would insert more smaller, and less complex landscaping objects in this area. You could use more grass based designs in this area.
