The ideal temperature setting on a refrigerator should be 40 degrees Fahrenheit or 5 degrees Celsius. Your appliance should have a control dial. If you are unsure of the temperature setting, you can use a refrigerator thermometer which can be purchased almost anywhere.

I have a Kenmore Refrigerator and it is set on 37 degrees. It has a freezer at the bottom. If the frig is overstock I set it lower at 35 because of the items on the door, such as milk and eggs.

According to my experience the best refrigerator temperature is 41 degrees fahrenheit. This way your supply stays fresh but not frozen. During the summer the temperature is harder to maintain for the refrigerator, and the older types can develop frost which makes it harder for the machine to work, unlike the newer ones who have no frost.
