Most important consider the exposition to the sun. Some vegetables need more shadow or sun than others. Otherwise, I would group herbs and spices together.

You are going to want to plant your smaller plants up front to get the most sun and the taller plants in the back so they dont shade smaller ones. Your cucumbers do well trained on a trellis or fence. They like to sprawl and will choke out your herbs.

Planting a garden in height range will ensure even light distribution and help establish growing habits. When planting keep in mind that peas release nitrogen and will affect the growth of the plants surronding them. Companion planting works great, and enables each plant to produce the maximum yeilds. Herbs should be planted away from vegetables ,to avoid cross pollination.

The first thing you need to do is read the packets really well and plant them according to what soil they grow best in and always try and put a garden on a sloped some things do better id dryer soil and some things do better in more moist soil and the plant accordingly.
