Something that travels well to avoid breakage. The smaller and lighter, the cheaper to send. Something not found in that country. Item indigenous to our country. Examples could include, jewellery box, brass ornament, scented candles, handkerchiefs, kitchen towel set, ornamental wall hanging and assorted bath beads.

Something that is truly representative of where you are would be really nice, as would something of great quality that is not available where they are.

When shipping overseas you need to ship something that isn't too heavy or will go stale. A nice sweater or blouse or a special set of photographs would make a nice gift.

Something that is found in your country and not theirs. My Finish relatives love that kind of stuff! And it doesn't have to be elaborate.

Pictures of yourself and the family doing everyday things or activites. Pictures of yourselves at important events. Even handmade personalized gifts.

A great gift is something that is not available in the country where your overseas relative lives. This might be a specific electronic product (camera, cell phone), landscape artwork, candy or food, or even types of medication. We send relatives in India products from bath and body works, purses, fruit roll-ups and laptops.

Any kind of food that doesn't have to be refrigerated is a good idea. Beef jerkey, candy, and trail mix are a few examples.
