Get something from Target to start with. Anything Wilson is good and the William sisters make a good line of beginner kids rackets. Wilson is a name you can trust though. A good price is less than fifty dollars. More than that and you might regret it later. You can always upgrade.

The Head Agassi 23 Junior Tennis Racquet is a good solid choice for beginners. You can pick one up for around $17. 00.

Many of the cheap rackets that are for juniors are of very poor quality. Racket makers Wilson and Prince make decent junior sized rackets. They might be a little bit more expensive, but the quality is worth it.

A Wilson racket is a good first racket. It is not too expensive but good for a beginner. You can get one at Target or such places. Don't put too much money into the first racket.

It should not be too hard to find a good first tennis racket for a 6 year old. You can find some good beginners rackets at stores like Dick's Sporting Goods. There are a variety of options to choose from, so many different stores and different rackets for beginners. You should have no problem finding one.

Junior Tennis racquets are pretty cheap and are almost the same other than the colors. They are all made to be durable. The most important thing is that you pick out a racquet that is the correct length. If you stand the racquet up on the head the handle should reach right to the middle of their palm.

I would recommend getting him a racket with a medium firmness. Most of the rackets that you will see at department stores will have this type of firmness. This way he will be able to get a good hit on the ball without having to much power behind it.

The best tennis racket for a six year old will be a racket that is the right size and shape for that age.

You can find some beginner racquets that are rather inexpensive. The key for a beginner (especially and young child) is to make sure the head of the racquet is big. The bigger the head, the bigger the sweet spot and he can just work on form! Enjoy

If your son has never played tennis before, I would recommend getting a very introductory racquet for him. You can more than likely find something that would be okay for him at a Dick's Sporting Goods or Wal-Mar. You do not want to spend much money if he is just starting out. Stick to the low priced racquets.
