A GFCI plug, or ground fault circuit interruptor, is an outlet that is used that has a test and reset button on the front in order to prevent anyone from shocking themself. If the current is too strong , it will automatically shut off preventing shocks and fires.

A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) Plug is a plug that contains a circuit that is able to monitor electrical current flow from Hot to Neutral. If it senses an imbalance it will trip the circuit; thereby stopping the current. This feature is good to have on items that may be exposed to water, such as hairdryers.
