This generally refers to how many lenses are part or the fixture. This does not refer to any electrical component therein. Most home supply centers stock replacement lenses for many types of fixtures regardless of sides.

The five sided base is a cube shaped like a square , the base is of it is on the ceiling and the other five sides of it are made out of glass or plastic. It's named that way because it has only 5 sides that you can see. It is commonly used on porches.

A five sided building has angles of 72 degrees in the light house. All sides in the five sided building must be the same length for all the angles in the building to be the same at 72 degrees. If the sides are not all the same length then the building will not be equal.
