What is a First-degree AV block, or PR prolongation?

My mother was recently diagnosed with this, I would like to know what it means to her way of life and if it is terminal?

The natural pacemaker of the heart is called the sinus node. Sometimes the upper heart chamber which are called the atria doesnt transmit to the bottom heart chambers which are called ventricles. A First degree block is when the electric impluses travel slower then they should.

If the current or conduction of the heart, is stopped between the atria and ventricles, there is an inability for the heart to pump blood. This is termed first degree AV block and will also produce an increase in the time for the PR wave on an ECG.

It is a conduction delay in the electrical current of the heart at the AV node. This is a common condition and people live with it with no ill effects.
