on most refrigerators a ten is the coldest setting that you can put it on. By putting it on ten you are getting it to run at its coldest setting. For most freezers you don't need the setting to bethat low to keep everything frozen. Try putting it around the half way mark and that should keep your food frozen.

On most "0 or 1" to "10" freezer and/or refrigerator models: "10" means "Coldest" and "0" or "1" means either "Off" or "warmest". Ideally, Long-Term-Food-Storage-Freezers should be "Sub-Zero" (BELOW -0F/-18C).

That is basically the coldest setting you can have on the freezer. Depending on the items you are storing in it, this may be way too cold. Determine how much temperature is required for the items and then set the temperature accordingly. Ideally, set it to the medium amount 5.
