The Peloponnesian War was fought 431 to 404 B.C (roughly 27 years) between Athens and her allies against Sparta and their allies. It was a struggle for supremacy between Athens and Sparta. Notionally, the Spartans "won" but the conflict left both sides exhausted and weak.
