There is a very good chance the counselor will have you put into a mental health facility to be medicated and counseled. The counselor may be able to do that against your will if they feel your life is in danger.

When you tell a (good)counselor you are suicidal, he/she will help you find ways to cope with the negative situation, or find an institution that will monitor/help you so that you do not hurt yourself.

The counselor will ask you about whether you have a plan and the means to do it; the counselor will also discuss options with you for getting proper care. If the counselor is concerned that a suicide attempt is about to happen, he or she will likely call for help (police).

Your counselor is probably required to report what you say. That you are considering telling means you probably want help. Your counselor may be able to help you find it.
