It depends on the couple. Dome people find they are better able to work problems out having that space but others separate as a trial run to decide whether they want to go through with a divorce.

When you separate it is generally for a trial period, you may be able to work things out and resume your marriage. Depending on the state you live in, you have to be separated for a period of time before you can file for divorce. Divorce is not automatic, you or your spouse would have to file.

No, separation does not necessarily lead to divorce. Some people reunite after separation, and others stay separated, while some divorce. It depends on your situation and choices while separated.
