You need to train miniature schnauzers to be nice around both people and other animals by socializing them early on when they are puppies. Obedience training is very important as these are very intelligent dogs and without training will be virtually impossible to control. Training must also be persistent, making this breed perhaps not ideal for first time dog owners.

You can use clicker training with a hand clicker and treats. You can use just treats which to me is the most effective way to train. You begin with the easiest sit command by showing him how to sit (push his rump, gently to ground),then reward with a treat, take away treats slowly till he does it on command.

Schnauzers generally respond well to obedience training, since it helps focus their energy and intelligence; but their natural stubbornness makes early socialization, positive reinforcement and consistency important. For the best results, training sessions should be short with plenty of praise used as a reward for good behavior.

It depends on rather you plan on doing the training yourself or you are going to have a trainer do it for you. If you plan on doing it yoourself make sure you get some help from a pro.

As with any other dog, training requires long, hard work and dedication. The training will most importantly require patience and knowledge of just what is required to get the schnauzer to obey commands and be obedient. Schnauzers, like many other toy dogs can be somewhat assertive in there persistence in being playful.

Dog training in general entails communication with a dog. It is communicating to the dog that certain behaviors are acceptable and certain behaviors are not acceptable. Punishment when a dog does something bad, and rewarding the dog when they do something good is how we communicate to the dog that their behavior is either or.
