Take in to consideration the following: Do you have allergies? Get a hypoallergenic dog. Do you have space issues? Choose a smaller dog. Do you love to exercise? Get a sporting dog. Have kids? Get a stocky dog.

Only you can determine that. Many factors need to be incorporated into your decision. If you live in a home with a small yard or an apartment it's probably not best to get a large breed dog. If you have young children you should look into getting a dog that isn't nippy or mean.

The best way to pick the right dog for yourself is to study the breeds. Where you live, your time you have to devote to the animal, your family all should contribute to your decision. Remember to check shelters, adoption can be quite satisfying. Many dogs are already housetrained.

You need to ask yourself how much time and energy you can devote, how much room you have and what type of personality in a dog that you would like. Also do you have children then research the dogs and look for the qualities you would want.
