To measure obesity, we often use a simple ratio of height and weight. To determine clinical obesity, other factors are taken into consideration and measured by your doctor to determine actual obesity. This includes the waist-hip ratio, waist measurement, and body fat percentage. It is "clinical" because it is determined in a clinic setting.

The medical community has established a range of weights determined to be healthy for one's height. Above that, they have determined a range of weight (again, for your height) that is considered overweight. At any weight BEYOND the highest weight in that range, you are deemed clinically obese. Your wife needs to lose weight for her health.

There are different stages of obesity and all that means is the current weight that she is at has put her in a different class of obesity. She needs to make an appointment to go in for a consultation with the doctor and they have to tell her what these things mean.

If you have been said to be clinically obese, the only difference between being obese and clinically obese, is that you went to a doctor and the doctor run the clinical ran test to confirm that you are indeed, obese.

That means that your wife's health is in danger.Her body fat % is far more greater then permitted.Her BMI is probably over 30.
