Low Trac stands for low traction. The vehicle in question most likely has a traction control system, whereby a sensor increases or decreases power to the tires as needed to keep traction on the vehicle at an appropriate level at all times. Low traction means the car's tires do not grip well, and in certain situations this can be necessary.

This light will go on whenever the car "senses" sudden change in speed or road conditions. It can be caused by sudden brakes pressure, changes in road surface like snow or mud etc. and indicates some loss of traction.

It means that the speed sensor is detecting a loss of traction. If it is always on, you most likely have a bad speed sensor.

When the low trac light comes on on your Grand Am it means that your tires are spinning and the traction control system is going to kick in.

It means the car has low traction such as the car is sliping on wet grass, gravel, wet roads where not all wheels have traction and are spinning.

Your Grand Am has Traction Control. "Low Trac" indicates that you are on ice or another slippery surface. It could also mean you have a bad sensor or wheel bearing.
