What does it mean if my friend has terminal brain cancer?

Can't they do anything? Should she get a second opinion?

It means that the cancer has spread to the brain and that the chances of survival are slim. It never hurts to get a second opinion and there may be some clinical trials available with some new chemo drugs or different combinations that they are needing research done on. It is usually fast moving in the brain.

When a doctor says "terminal," this pretty much means "fatal." It is not expected that someone with a terminal disease will be able to recover. If your friend thinks that the diagnosis is hasty or that they haven't explored all available treatment options, then perhaps she should seek a second opinion.

A second opinion for any illness is a given. However, if a person is certain that he or she has terminal brain cancer, that person should live to the fullest.

Unfortuntely depending on how much it has spread, your friend doesn't have long to live. There isn't much they can do.
