Two things, first check the neutral safety switch, it is activated by the pressing of the brake pedal. If that is in working order the problem may be the shifter assembly, there is a detent that holds it into park that is released by pressing the brake pedal.

This has happened to me and all I had to do was push in my brake hard, jiggle my steering wheel and put a little extra muscle into shifting it.

If your foot is on the brake and the car is turned on and it still doesn't shift, it could be because of the transmission, the ignition, or the brake shift interlock. If it is a brake switch problem the transmission will not know when the brake is applied to allow you to shift.

There is definately a transmission issue going on. The automatic transmission most likely has most likely been damaged in 2 gear at least. This is a very expensive problem that you have, and usually has to be fixed by trained mechanics. You most likely will have to replace the entire transmission.
