What does it mean if I have brown spotting and cramping at 12.5 weeks pregnant?

I am scared something is wrong with the baby. This is my first pregnancy.

First of all, if you are concerned about anything, whether it be cramps or cravings and especially spotting during your pregnany, contact your physician. Having said that, it is not always a bad sign to have cramps or even spot at any point in the pregnancy. Cramps are fairly normal and spotting could just be remnants of your cycle.

Brown spotting is an indication of old blood that is coming from your uterus or cervix. If the cramping is bad and or you notice bright red spotting you should contact your hospital and or doctor to see if you need furtuer testing to make sure that everything is okay.

Go to the emergency room right away and have them check to see if everything is okay. The baby could be fine. You don't know. It could also be a miscarriage.

You can have spotting during a pregnacy and every thing could be fine, and you can have what feels like cramping with your body changing and getting ready for a baby it is going to go through a lot. However I would not risk it I would at least call your doctor and let them know.

Cramping is not terribly unusual and bleeding is not terribly unusual in early pregnancy. Cramping can be from your uterus stretching. I would talk to your OB.

Brown spotting during pregnancy means that there is old dry blood that could be released by the erosion of the cervix and is harmless,it does not indicate any harm unless there is pain consult your doctor. Cramping is also perfectly normal since the fetus is increasing in size mainly at this point but sometimes it could also indicate constipation.
