What does it mean if Arma 2 says it does not support a Shader model 3?

I thought the Shader model 3 was required.

It means that if you computer is old, you can still play the game, even if it was release in 2009.Most of the games that are new require at least those kind of video cards with shader model 3 support. But having shader model 3 , will improve your experience in game.Have fun playing Arma 2.
