What does it mean if a house has an Under Contract with Realtor sign on it?

It means that someone has paid earnest money to try to buy the home, but the deal has not yet closed (completed).

It means that someone has agreed to buy the house, and signed a contract, but that the closing has not happened yet. It is not too unusual for something to go wrong before closing, such as a failed home inspection or mortgage problems.

The "Under Contract" sign means a contract has been signed between buyer and seller but the details have to be worked out. Some continue to show for back-up offers.

This means the homeowner has hired a real estate company to sell their home for them. There are special agrements between the homeowner and the selling agent. No matter how the homeowner decides to sell the home the homeowner will still have to pay a commision to the agent.
