Circa means about or around. It's used to describe a time period when you're not certain of the exact dates. For example, the Essenes were active circa 100 B. C.

Circa comes from the Latin language. It specifically means "in approximately", or just simply "around". Circa is mostly used when writing average dates.

Circa, which is from Latin and is abbreviated as ca. or c. , means "around" and is used with numbers. For example circa 1400 AD means around 1400 AD or ca. 3 feet means around 3 feet.

"Circa" literally means "around". It is used to indicate an approximate date when the exact date is unknown to the speaker. "My puppy was born circa March 15th. " means that's your closest guess as to when the puppy was born. Another example is "Her ancestors landed circa 1500. "
