APRB BC stands for "board-certified advanced practice registered nurse". This type of nurse functions in a more advanced setting than a standard Registered Nurse, often performing physical exams and other tasks traditionally performed by physicians. The scope of practice varies by state, with some APNs able to obtain prescriptive priviledges and some not.

APRN-BC stands for Advance Practice Registered Nurse-Board Certified. This credential was initiated in May of 2008 to prevent confusion with other nursing abbreviations.

This is an old term for advanced practice registered nurse, board certified. It was retired in January, 2008 and is replaced by NP (nurse practitioner) or ANP (adult nurse practitioner) and CNS (certified nurse specialist), It is a title not a credential. You must be licensed to practice.
