What do you think about emailing a friend's ex?

If you are emailing them to keep just a friendship, then by all means. If you are doing so to try to have a relationship, that will hurt your friendship. Would it really be worth it to lose a friendship for something that might not even last?

This is a very rude thing to do. The end of any relationship is painful, and your friend has worked hard to move past it. By e-mailing his or her ex, you are pulling open old wounds and betraying your friend.

If you value your friendship refrain from having contact with them. You need to consider your friends feelings. They broke up for a reason and for you to email this ex you are inviting them into your world right where your friend is and this can cause tension and trouble.

That is off limits. It is a bad idea to consider a relationship with a friends ex, no matter what your friend tells you that puts everyone in an uncomfortable position.
